I attended LCS from K-7th grade, and then attended Cocalico Middle and High school for 8-12th, where I graduated in 2014. I am now a second semester senior at the University of Pittsburgh. I will be graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Natural Sciences with a microbiology concentration, a minor in chemistry, and certificates in Conceptual Foundations of Medicine and Global Health. Aside from being a student, I am chapter President of She’s The First, a national non-profit that raises scholarships for girls education in developing nations and fights for equality in education. I am also a sister of Gamma Sigma Sigma service sorority, a clinical research assistant at Magee Women’s Hospital, and I work part time at an office affiliated with Student Government Board that manages all student organizations.
In August of 2018 I will be leaving for Liberia to serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer teaching secondary science. I will have 3 months of training in-country, and then I will move to my village for 24 months! Part of my role there will not be only to teach science, but to maintain a leadership position in my school and to run an after-school activity. After my Peace Corps service is over, I will hopefully be attending grad school for an MSPH in Tropical Medicine or Infectious Disease!
